The first two books in the "Zombie Apocalypse" series were a sort of literary jam session featuring many of the best authors in the horror genre. This next entry is a solo effort. On the basis of slight familiarity with his other work, I'd say that Morris can be an excellent writer, but here he seems defeated by zombie-pulp formulae mostly absent from the earlier books, which were characterized at least as much by imagination and mood as by violence and gore.
There's simply nothing in the present The first two books in the "Zombie Apocalypse" series were a sort of literary jam session featuring many of the best authors in the horror genre. There's simply nothing in the present book which isn't slam-bang action. Morris handles it well enough, but the novel aspires to so little that it's scarcely worth your time unless, of course, nonstop slam-bang action is exactly what you're looking for.
He doesn't descend to the puerilities of Max Brooks, and fleeting glimpses of our dystopian near-future are interesting, but he also doesn't seem interested in combining enthusiastic pulp trashiness with nifty ideas and insolent wit, as the folks at Abaddon Books regularly manage to do with ease. So, a disappointment. I see Lisa Morton is presiding over the next installment——a good choice. She should be adept at juggling imagination and action. Jul 18, Jennifer rated it it was ok. Constant action and an easy read, but you had to suspend any sort of scientific belief - so many plot holes and bits that made absolutely no sense.
The gangster language of one of the 'main' characters was very grating too. This book confirms the series is going down hill - only the first one was in any sense good. Nov 12, Scott rated it really liked it. Rip roaring and flesh rending good fun here. It had a nice twist to the zombie outbreak. Apr 29, Michael rated it liked it. Mediocre entry in the series. Zombie Apocalypse 1 and 2 were mosaic novels, with entries written by multiple authors in a variety of formats. Those two introduce the zombie invasion and establish several recurring characters.
This novel discards the mosaic format in favor of the usual approach: one author, and mostly one narrative. The author does include a number of different character perspectives- but it's all in one location over the course of one twenty-four hour period. Readers will witne Mediocre entry in the series. Readers will witness the adventures of several nurses, a gang banger, an ambulance driver, a trio of inappropriately dressed bachelorettes, and many others, as they attempt to survive the zombie infestation at the hospital. Horror Hospital does use the world established in Zombie Apocalypse 1 and 2- so if you haven't read them you might not get some references.
But those references aren't essential to the plot.
The plot itself is very straightforward: zombies show up and start eating people. Everyone tries to survive. It's the same basic plot used in every zombie movie and tv series since George Romero filmed Night of the Living Dead. If you're okay with by the numbers zombie-horror, then this is the book for you. Jan 01, Megan Byrne rated it really liked it. Personal response: I really quite enjoyed the book Zombie Apocalypse!
In this book he did an amazing job with the plot, back stories, and characters. However i do wish that Mark would have spent a little more time on how the characters were feeling threw out the book. I also believe he should have had a few less characters, because with so many characters it gets a bit hard to follow.

Plot summary: At the beginning of the book we get a small hint at how awful the city of London is in this book threw a gang battle. The next main part of the story is when Sam gets bit at the club from what i assume is the first carrier of the virus. As we read on threw the book Sam's friends then take her to the hospital where she turns and attacks a nurse, a gang member and one of her friends before getting restrained.
